Regular Season Round 54: Kawasaki BT - Chiba J. 87-85

The most exciting game of round 54 in the B1 League took place in Kanagawa. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Chiba J. (34-13) to second ranked Toshiba Thunders (37-16) 87-85 on Saturday evening. Strangely Chiba J. outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 41-29 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Chiba J. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jordan Heath (208-91, college: Canisius, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) who recorded 30 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) added 13 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains second position with 37-16 record behind leader Tochigi B. Chiba J. at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 13 games lost. Toshiba Thunders are again looking forward to face Chiba J. (#5) at home in the next round. Chiba J. will have a break next round.
