Very expected game in Matsuyama where 8th ranked Orange Vikings (16-35) were crushed by second ranked FE Nagoya (33-21) 96-73 on Friday. FE Nagoya dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Orange Vikings' 28 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. FE Nagoya looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Orange Vikings' players. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) stepped up and scored 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners and British forward Benjamin Lawson (216-95, college: WKU) chipped in 15 points and 15 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Perry Ellis (203-93, college: Kansas) with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: CMU) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for FE Nagoya. They maintain second place with 33-21 record having six points less than leader Gunma. Orange Vikings lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 35 games lost. FE Nagoya will have a break next round. Orange Vikings will play again at home against the league's second-placed FE Nagoya (#2) and hope to win that game.
