We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tokyo where 4th placed Chiba J. (34-12) was defeated by fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (34-19) 91-85 on Wednesday. Hitachi Sunrockers made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) stepped up and scored 37 points (!!!) for the winners and his fellow American import center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) scored 15 points and 8 assists. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fifth place with 34-19 record. Loser Chiba J. keeps the fourth position with 12 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Yokohama BC (#8) on the road in the next round.
