Regular Season Round 53: Nagoya DD - Shimane SM 78-83

There was a minor upset in Nagoya where 4th placed Diamond Dolphins (29-22) were defeated by sixth ranked Shimane Magic (21-31) 83-78 on Wednesday. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Dolphins' 26. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) stepped up and scored 29 points and 6 steals for the winners and forward Perrin Buford (198-94, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Shimane Magic moved-up to fifth place. Diamond Dolphins lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the third position with 22 games lost. Shimane Magic will face Dragonflies (#10) in Hiroshima in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Diamond Dolphins will play on the road against Shiga L-Stars (#8) and hope to win that game.
