Regular Season Round 52: Hiroshima D. - Kyoto H. 73-78

There was no surprise in Hiroshima where 10th ranked Dragonflies (7-40) were defeated by eighth ranked Kyoto H. (19-33) 78-73. Kyoto H. made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Rayvonte Rice (193-92, college: Illinois) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Kyoto H.'s coach Shinya Ogawa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Dragonflies. Point guard Takumi Furuno (179-93) added 20 points for lost side. Kyoto H. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 19-33 record. Dragonflies lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the tenth place with 40 games lost. Kyoto H.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Shinshu BW (#5) in Nagano and it may be quite challenging game. Dragonflies will play on the road against Osaka E. (#3) and hope to win that game.
