The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Blue Whales' (26-25) road loss to tenth ranked Ducks (27-23) in Beijing 86-95 on Wednesday. Ducks made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Blue Whales were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: NM State) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!). Croatian-American center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Ducks players scored in double figures. U.S. Virgin Islands-American forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (196-94, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85, agency: BIG) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Blue Whales. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ducks moved-up to ninth place. Loser Blue Whales keep the eleventh position with 25 games lost. Ducks will face higher ranked Guangsha Lions (#7) in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
