No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Toyota Alvark (28-18) beat 9th ranked Hokkaido L. (13-32) in Tokyo 103-96 on Saturday. Toyota Alvark made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Greek DeShaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) notched 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) supported him with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Even 28 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) by American forward Nick Mayo (206-97, college: EKU, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Hokkaido L.. His fellow American import point guard Jordan Taylor (187-89, college: Wisconsin, agency: Pensack Sports) added 16 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Loser Hokkaido L. keeps the ninth position with 32 games lost. Toyota Alvark will again meet at home Hokkaido L. (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Hokkaido L. will have a break next round.
