Regular Season Round 51: Nishinomiya S. - Kumamoto V. 82-88

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Nishinomiya S. (33-17) in Hyogo on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Kumamoto V. (20-28) 88-82. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Nishinomiya S.. Kumamoto V. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nishinomiya S.'s 34 and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Kumamoto V. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Nishinomiya S. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: UCF) helped adding 25 points and 9 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). The best for the losing side was forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) with 24 points and 5 rebounds and forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kumamoto V. maintains sixth place with 20-28 record. Nishinomiya S. at the other side still keeps top position with 17 games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nishinomiya S. will play again at home against Kumamoto V. and is hoping to win this game.
