Regular Season Round 18: Lioneers - Dreamers 99-87

The most important game in the last round was the one between third ranked Dreamers (9-11) and fourth ranked Lioneers (7-14) on Saturday night. Dreamers were defeated by Lioneers 99-87. They outrebounded Dreamers 61-45 including a 46-34 advantage in defensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Dreamers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Branden Dawson (198-93, college: Michigan St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: UConn) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds. Lioneers' coach Greg Lin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Anthony Tucker (193-89, college: MSUM) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import guard Steph Hicks (198-92, college: CSUN) added 17 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Four Dreamers players scored in double figures. Lioneers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 7-14 record. Dreamers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with 11 games lost. Lioneers are again looking forward to face higher ranked Dreamers (#3) in Changhua City in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Dreamers will have a break next round.
