Second Stage Round 7: Kaspiy Aktau - Irtysh 69-70

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Kaspiy Aktau (18-3) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Irtysh (11-10) 70-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kaspiy Aktau. Irtysh forced 22 Kaspiy Aktau turnovers and outrebounded them 44-33 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international forward Oksana Ossipenko (186-85) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 21 rebounds. Guard Yekaterina Beschastnova (173-3) helped adding 17 points. At the losing side the former international forward Yelena Dots (177-89) responded with 24 points and 6 assists and Armenian guard Inga Manucharyan (178-0) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Irtysh moved-up to third place, which they share with Kazygurt. Kaspiy Aktau at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Irtysh is looking forward to face Kazygurt (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kaspiy Aktau will play against the league's second-placed Turan in Turkistan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
