Regular Season Round 42: Toyama G. - Chiba J. 88-90

The most exciting game of round 42 in the B1 League took place in Toyama. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th ranked Toyama G. (27-15) to second ranked Chiba J. (31-11) 90-88 on Sunday evening. Chiba J. outrebounded Toyama G. 38-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Chiba J.'s coach Atsushi Ono used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) who recorded a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) added 24 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chiba J. keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Ryukyu GK. Toyama G. at the other side keeps the fourth place with 15 games lost. Chiba J. is looking forward to face league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyama G. will play on the road against Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
