Regular Season Round 42: Akita NH - Shiga L-Stars 74-77

A very close game took place in Akita (derby !!!) between Shiga L-Stars and Akita Northern Happinets. Sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (16-26) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Akita Northern Happinets (24-18). Shiga L-Stars managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 on Sunday evening. Australian center Angus Brandt (208-89, college: Oregon St.) had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) with 27 points and American-Panamanian center Javier Carter (203-91, college: USA, agency: Slash Sports) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Akita Northern Happinets' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shimane SM. Loser Akita Northern Happinets keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will meet at home higher ranked Toyama G. (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akita Northern Happinets will play against San-en NeoPhoenix in Hamamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
