An interesting game was also a 27-point surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Toyama G. in a game in Tokyo versus Toyota Alvark (#7) 114-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyama G.. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Toyama G.'s 38 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Toyama G. 36-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. Toyota Alvark looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Toyama G.'s players. The winners were led by American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Greek DeShaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) supported him with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach Luka Pavicevic felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 29 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) by Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Toyama G.. American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) added 23 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Toyota Alvark (24-16) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hitachi SRT and Osaka E. Loser Toyama G. dropped to the second position with 14 games lost. They share it with Sea Horses M.. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyama G. will play against the league's second-placed Chiba J. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
