Regular Season Round 40: Shiga L-Stars - Hiroshima D. 77-97

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Shiga L-Stars (15-25) were smashed at home by tenth ranked Dragonflies (7-33) 97-77 on Wednesday. Dragonflies shot 61.1 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 73.7 percentage. Dragonflies looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Quite impressive performance for Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Shogo Asayama (192-81) contributed with 25 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Australian center Angus Brandt (208-89, college: Oregon St.) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and swingman Reo Maeda (191-97) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Dragonflies maintains tenth position with 7-33 record. Loser Shiga L-Stars dropped to the sixth place with 25 games lost. Dragonflies will face Hokkaido L. (#10) in Saporro in the next round.
