Rather predictable result in Hamamatsu where sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (15-24) beat 9th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (9-30) 81-77 on Sunday. They outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 44-31 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. San-en NeoPhoenix was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Australian center Angus Brandt (208-89, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 4 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 22 points and 9 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-89, college: USAO, agency: BIG) added 21 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shimane SM and Shinshu BW. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix keeps the ninth position with 30 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face Dragonflies (#10) in Hiroshima in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. San-en NeoPhoenix will play at home against Shimane Magic and hope to win that game.
