Third ranked Diamond Dolphins (24-15) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Toyota Alvark (23-16) 85-83 in the game for the third place. Diamond Dolphins players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Diamond Dolphins' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Greek DeShaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Taiki Osakabe (187-98) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Diamond Dolphins maintains third place with 24-15 record having four points less than leader Tochigi B., which they share with Hitachi SRT. Toyota Alvark at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Osaka E. and Akita NH. Diamond Dolphins will play against Kyoto H. (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Toyota Alvark will play against Toyama G. (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
