Regular Season Round 39: Hiroshima D. - Chiba J. 72-104

Very expected game in Hiroshima where 10th ranked Dragonflies (6-33) were rolled over by second ranked Chiba J. (30-10) 104-72 on Sunday. Chiba J. dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Dragonflies' 34 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Dragonflies 40-21 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba J. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. American power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) chipped in 27 points (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Five Chiba J. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit) added 17 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Chiba J.. They maintain second place with 30-10 record having just three point less than leader Tochigi B. Dragonflies lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with 33 games lost. Chiba J. will face Hokkaido L. (#10) in Saporro in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dragonflies will play on the road against Shiga L-Stars and hope to win that game.
