Not a big story in a game in Tokyo where 8th ranked Orange Vikings (14-25) were defeated by third ranked Koshigaya A. (27-13) 92-87 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Koshigaya A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: App State) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Charles Hinkle (198-88, college: American) chipped in 30 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: LBSU) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds and American forward Perry Ellis (203-93, college: Kansas) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Koshigaya A. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 27-13 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Gunma. Orange Vikings lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 25 games lost. Koshigaya A. will face again Orange Vikings (#8) in Matsuyama in the next round where they are favorite.
