Everything went according to plan when second ranked Chiba J. (30-10) outplayed 10th ranked Dragonflies (6-33) in Hiroshima 110-88 on Saturday. Chiba J. made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Chiba J. outrebounded Dragonflies 37-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) contributed with 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. Five Chiba J. players scored in double figures. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit) replied with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) added 22 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Dragonflies. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Chiba J. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 30-10 record having just three point less than leader Tochigi B. Dragonflies lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the tenth place with 33 games lost. Chiba J. will have a break next round. Dragonflies will play again at home against the league's second-placed Chiba J. (#2) and hope to win that game.
