Regular Season Round 17: Denso Iris - Aishin AW 70-58

There was no surprise in Kariya where 5th ranked Aishin AW (3-14) was defeated by second ranked Denso Iris (14-3) 70-58 on Saturday. Denso Iris made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Denso Iris outrebounded Aishin AW 52-36 including 37 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international center Maki Takada (183-89) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. International center Akaho Himawari (184-98) chipped in 6 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Chinatsu Umeki (168-0) produced 21 points and point guard CaiDeng Sakai (164-95) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Denso Iris. They maintain second place in West with 14-3 record behind leader Toyota A. Aishin AW lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Denso Iris will face again Aishin AW (#5) in Anjo in the next round.
