Second Stage Round 5: MBJSM - Okzhetpes 71-52

Bottom-ranked Okzhetpes (0-19) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 71-52 loss to fifth ranked MBJSM (10-9) in Almaty on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Okzhetpes' 40. MBJSM forced 23 Okzhetpes turnovers. Power forward Makpal Nusipova (182-99) stepped up and scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Karina Olenberg (179-98) chipped in 14 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Angelina Mihaylova (187-94) responded with 10 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Zoya Budai (167-3) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Okzhetpes' coach Victoriya Volkova rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. MBJSM moved-up to third place, which they share with Irtysh and Kazygurt. Loser Okzhetpes still closes the standings. MBJSM will meet Astana Tigers (#6) on the road in the next round. Okzhetpes will play against Karaganda and hope to get finally their first victory.
