Very expected game in Saporro where 10th ranked Hokkaido L. (9-28) was crushed by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (26-12) 91-70 on Sunday. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Hokkaido L. 40-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American power forward Jordan Heath (208-91, college: Canisius, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Nick Mayo (206-97, college: EKU, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Jordan Taylor (187-89, college: Wisconsin, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. Defending champion maintains third place with 26-12 record having just one point less than leader Tochigi B. Hokkaido L. lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with 28 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's second-placed Chiba J. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hokkaido L. will play against Yokohama BC (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
