Regular Season Round 36: San-en NP - Hitachi SRT 80-79

The most important game in the last round took place in Hamamatsu between third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (24-12) and ninth ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (8-28) on Saturday night. Hitachi Sunrockers were edged by San-en NeoPhoenix in a tough game on the road 79-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. San-en NeoPhoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-89, college: USAO, agency: BIG) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four San-en NeoPhoenix players scored in double figures. American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and international point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) added 13 points and 8 assists in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. San-en NeoPhoenix maintains ninth position with 8-28 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side dropped to the second place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Sea Horses M. and Toyama G.. San-en NeoPhoenix are again looking forward to face higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) in Tokyo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round.
