Regular Season Round 36: Sea Horses M. - Alvark T. 83-77

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (24-12) defeated 6th ranked Toyota Alvark (22-14) in Kariya 83-77 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a good game for American power forward Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) contributed with 15 points for the winners. American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds and Greek DeShaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains second position with 24-12 record having just three points less than leader Tochigi B., which they share with Hitachi SRT and Toyama G. Loser Toyota Alvark dropped to the third place with 14 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face again Toyota Alvark (#6) in Tokyo in the next round.
