Regular Season Round 35: Shinshu BW - Nagoya DD 87-80

There was a minor upset in Nagano where 3rd placed Diamond Dolphins (21-14) were defeated by sixth ranked Shinshu BW (13-22) 87-80 on Wednesday. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Diamond Dolphins' coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shinshu BW moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the third position with 14 games lost. Shinshu BW will face league's second-placed Chiba J. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Dolphins will play against Akita Northern Happinets and hope to win that game.
