Regular Season Round 34: Shiga L-Stars - Chiba J. 71-97

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Chiba J. (27-8) outscored on the road 5th ranked Shiga L-Stars (12-22) 97-71 on Sunday. Chiba J. had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Shiga L-Stars were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Chiba J. players scored in double figures. At the losing side Australian center Angus Brandt (208-89, college: Oregon St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Jonathan Octeus (193-91, college: Purdue) scored 20 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chiba J. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 27-8 record having just three point less than leader Tochigi B. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the fifth place with 22 games lost. Chiba J. will face Toyota Alvark (#7) in Tokyo in the next round where they are favorite. Shiga L-Stars will play on the road against Shimane Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
