There was no surprise when 9th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (7-26) lost to third ranked Diamond Dolphins (20-13) in Hamamatsu 90-106 on Saturday. Diamond Dolphins made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Diamond Dolphins outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 38-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-89, college: USAO, agency: BIG) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. Five Diamond Dolphins and four San-en NeoPhoenix players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Diamond Dolphins have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 20-13 record having four points less than leader Tochigi B., which they share with Alvark T. San-en NeoPhoenix lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 26 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will have a break next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play again at home against Diamond Dolphins (#3) and hope to win that game.
