Very predictable result in Hamamatsu where second ranked Ryukyu GK (22-9) defeated 9th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (7-24) 92-78 on Saturday. They outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 37-21 including 27 on the defensive glass. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dwayne Evans (201-92, college: St.Louis, agency: Wasserman) helped adding 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side guard Kazuma Tsuya (188-98) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Tatsuya Suzuki (169-91) scored 11 points and 6 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ryukyu GK maintains second place with 22-9 record behind leader Tochigi B., which they share with Hitachi SRT. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix keeps the ninth position with 24 games lost. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play again at home against the league's second-placed Ryukyu GK (#2) and hope to win that game.
