Regular Season Round 31: Shimane SM - Kawasaki BT 65-79

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Shimane Magic (10-21) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Toshiba Thunders (20-11) 79-65 on Saturday. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toshiba Thunders made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Spanish Pablo Aguilar (203-89) helped adding 8 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Perrin Buford (198-94, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and the other American import DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Akita NH. Loser Shimane Magic dropped to the seventh position with 21 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round. Shimane Magic will play again at home against Toshiba Thunders (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
