Regular Season Round 21: Ayandeh Sazan - Zob Ahan 55-89

Bottom-ranked Ayandeh Sazan (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-55 loss to third ranked Zob Ahan (8-3) in Tehran on Friday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Ayandeh Sazan's 26. Zob Ahan forced 21 Ayandeh Sazan turnovers and outrebounded them 41-24 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zob Ahan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international center Mohammad Torabi (211-92, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Devin Sweetney (198-87, college: SFU) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Five Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. Zob Ahan's coach Farzad Kouhian felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Safa Nekooe with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Reza Noori scored 12 points. Zob Ahan maintains third place with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Mahram. Newly promoted Ayandeh Sazan still closes the standings with 11 games lost. They share the position with Khouzestan.
