No shocking result in a game in Sichuan where seventh ranked Guangsha Lions (18-15) defeated 11th ranked Blue Whales (16-17) 112-108 on Wednesday. Guangsha Lions made 32-of-36 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The former international center Jinqiu Hu (210-97) stepped up and scored 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica (213-88) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and U.S. Virgin Islands-American forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (196-94, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 23 points. Four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Guangsha Lions maintains seventh place with 18-15 record. Loser Blue Whales keep the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Guangsha Lions will meet higher ranked Flying Tigers (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blue Whales will play against Jilin Tigers (#5) in Changchun and hope to secure a win.
