Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Fukushima (14-17) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (20-13) 88-78 on Wednesday. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: ASU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import swingman LeBryan Nash (201-92, college: OK State) chipped in 21 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: CPP) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Bahamas Mark StFort (200-88, college: Warner) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers maintains fourth place with 20-13 record. Loser Fukushima keeps the sixth position with 17 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face higher ranked Koshigaya A. (#3) in Tokyo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fukushima will play at home against Tokyo Z and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
