Regular Season Round 31: Kumamoto V. - Fukushima 79-86

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Kumamoto V. (15-15) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Fukushima (14-16) 86-79 on Saturday. Fukushima looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fukushima made 9 blocks. Finnish-American power forward Erik Murphy (208-90, college: Florida) fired 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Shota Kanno (187-92) chipped in 17 points. American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: UCF) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) added 15 points and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Fukushima went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Kumamoto V. keeps the fifth place with 15 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round. Kumamoto V. will play again at home against Fukushima (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
