Regular Season Round 28: Akita NH - Kawasaki BT 67-80

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Toshiba Thunders (18-10) defeated on the road one of their biggest challengers Akita Northern Happinets (18-10) 80-67 on Saturday. Toshiba Thunders made 28-of-37 free shots (75.7 percent) during the game. Akita Northern Happinets were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who added 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Alex Davis (206-92, college: Fresno St.) responded with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks and point guard Masashi Hosoya (173-89) scored 17 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toyama G. and Akita NH. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round. Akita Northern Happinets will play again at home against Toshiba Thunders (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
