Eighth-ranked Blue Whales (14-15) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Jilin Tigers (19-12) in Sichuan on Sunday. The visitors from Changchun managed to secure only two-point victory 109-107. However their fans expected easier game. Jilin Tigers forced 23 Blue Whales turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 48 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and point guard Weize Jiang (182-0) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and U.S. Virgin Islands-American forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (196-94, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 26 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Blue Whales' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jilin Tigers moved-up to fifth place. Blue Whales at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Qingdao E.. Jilin Tigers are looking forward to face league's second-placed Guandong Tigers in Dongguan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blue Whales will play at home against Royal Fighters (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
