Regular Season Round 11: Mitsubishi K. - Denso Iris 82-89

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Nagoya. Second ranked Denso Iris faced 3rd placed Mitsubishi K.. Guests from Kariya (9-2) defeated host Mitsubishi K. (7-4) 89-82. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Mitsubishi K.. Denso Iris looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was international center Akaho Himawari (184-98) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international center Maki Takada (183-89) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Denso Iris' coach Marina Maljkovic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Nemoto Haruno (176-95) produced 29 points and 7 rebounds and the former international swingman Aya Watanabe (169-92) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Denso Iris have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-2 record behind leader Eneos S. Mitsubishi K. at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mitsubishi K. will play again at home against the league's second-placed Denso Iris and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
