Very important is a home loss of third ranked Al Wakrah (7-3) against fifth ranked Al Shamal (7-3) on Saturday night. Host Al Wakrah was defeated by Al Shamal in a tough game in Al Wakrah 67-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Wakrah. The best player for the winners was Lebanese guard Wael Arakji (194-94) who scored 30 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Georgian Mikhail Berishvili (204-87) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American Julius Coles Jr (193-89, college: Canisius) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and international forward Abdelrahman Abdelhaleem (205-96) added 18 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Al Wakrah. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
