Important game to mention about took place in Matsuyama. Seventh ranked Orange Vikings (10-18) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-ranked Ibaraki R. (21-9) 90-88 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Orange Vikings players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: LBSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American forward Perry Ellis (203-93, college: Kansas) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Orange Vikings maintains seventh place with 10-18 record. Ibaraki R. at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
