The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Arabi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Arabi smashed 8th ranked Al Khor in Doha 107-54. They outrebounded Al Khor 41-30 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Arabi looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Al Khor's players. South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (208-87, college: UConn) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international swingman Khalid Suliman Abdi (198-87) chipped in 22 points and 7 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American power forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: FDU) produced 23 points and 7 rebounds and Ali Tawfiq added 13 points respectively for lost side. Al Arabi (8-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Al Khor lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with eight games lost. Al Khor will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Al Arabi will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Al Ahli. It will be extra interesting game as Al Ahli is their local rival from Doha.
