Regular Season Round 27: Hitachi SRT - San-en NP 105-64

Very expected game when 9th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (5-22) was smashed by third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (19-8) in Tokyo 105-64 on Sunday. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to San-en NeoPhoenix's 40 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Hitachi Sunrockers forced 19 San-en NeoPhoenix turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was a good game for American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). His fellow American import Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Tsutomu Isa felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-89, college: USAO) added 16 points in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. Hitachi Sunrockers have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Sea Horses M. and Ryukyu GK. San-en NeoPhoenix lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 22 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Shiga L-Stars (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against Dragonflies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
