Very predictable result when fourth ranked Akita Northern Happinets (18-9) rolled over 10th ranked Dragonflies (4-23) in Hiroshima 97-57 on Sunday. Akita Northern Happinets outrebounded Dragonflies 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Dragonflies' players. Dragonflies were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Alex Davis (206-92, college: Fresno St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Akita Northern Happinets players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Ryo Tawatari (180-93, college: Dominican, CA) answered with 15 points and 5 assists and American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit) added 12 points in the effort for Dragonflies. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Northern Happinets have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 18-9 record, which they share with Toyama G. Dragonflies lost fourteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with 23 games lost. Akita Northern Happinets will face Toshiba Thunders (#6) in Kanagawa in the next round. Dragonflies will play on the road against San-en NeoPhoenix (#9) in Hamamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
