They outrebounded Al Shamal 42-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Al Gharafa looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Franklin Session II (187-89, college: CS Los Angeles) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and the former international center Mohd Yousuf Mohmmed (204-82) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Faris Avdic (201-97) with 23 points and Lebanese guard Wael Arakji (194-94) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Al Arabi. Defending champion Al Shamal dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Al Sadd.
