Regular Season Round 8: Al Shamal - Al Arabi 74-82

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#2) and Al Shamal (#3). Al Shamal was defeated at home 74-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Shamal. The winners were led by South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (208-87, college: UConn) who scored that evening 22 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Kevin Murphy (197-90, college: Tenn Tech) supported him with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Even 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists by Georgian Mikhail Berishvili (204-87) did not help to save the game for Al Shamal. Lebanese guard Wael Arakji (194-94) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the hosts. Al Arabi have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Al Shamal keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Al Wakrah. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha .
