The game between second ranked Guandong Tigers (19-3) and fifteenth ranked Sharks (9-13) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Guandong Tigers were crushed by Sharks in Dongguan 92-117. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Guandong Tigers. Sharks made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Guandong Tigers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Guandong Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). His fellow American import guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international Peng Zhou (206-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) added 20 points and 6 assists in the effort for Guandong Tigers. Five Sharks and four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Guangzhou LL and Guangsha L. Defending champion Guandong Tigers keep the second position with three games lost. Sharks is looking forward to face Monkey Kings (#17) in Jiangsu in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Guandong Tigers will play on the road against Royal Fighters (#9) in Beijing and are hoping to win this game.
