Japan - South Korea 53-58
Ha Eun-Joo (201-C-83) nailed 15 points and pulled down 7 rebounds to pace South Korea past Japan in the semifinal clash in Incheon today. South Korea will now face China for the trophy tomorrow. Sin Jung Ja (185-C/F-80) tossed in 13 points, collected 10 rebounds and issued 4 assists for South Korea. Japan jumped at 12:9 lead after the opening quarter. But South Korea responded with a 17:9 run to take a 5-point halftime lead. Japan pulled within a single point at the final intermission. But South Korea held their opponents to 10 points in the fourth period and got away with a tough victory. Naho Miyoshi (165-G-93) topscored with 18 points for Japan.
China - Taiwan 75-63
China fired past Taiwan to reach the title game in Incheon. Shi Xiufeng (178-PG-87) delivered 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort. Taiwan posted a 21:17 lead after the first frame. But China erased the deficit and spurred ahead for a 37:33 halftime advantage. They held Taiwan to just 11 points in the third term to open a 9-point advantage. China sank 22 points in the fourth quarter and sealed the victory. Liu Dan (194-C-87) netted 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Huang Ping-Chen (178-F-89) answered with 19 points for Taiwan. Lan Jui-Yu (170-G-83) had 15 points in the loss.
5-6 Place
Kazakhstan - India 68-47
Kazakhstan defeated India to clinch the fifth position at the Asian Games in South Korea. Oxana Ossipenko (186-F-85) tallied 14 points to pace the winners. Kazakhstan used a 21:10 run in the second frame to open a 36:22 halftime advantage. They held India to just 4 points in the third term to take a 29-point lead at the final intermission. Kazakhstan then cruised to the victory in the fourth frame. Anna Vinokurova (192-C-92) delivered 11 points and 11 rebounds for Kazakhstan. Jeena Palanilkumkalayil (178-F-94) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds for India.
7-8 Place
Thailand - Mongolia 74-59
Thailand outgunned Mongolia to celebrate the 7th position at the tournament. Thidaporn Maihom (170-F-93) recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds for the Thai team. Thailand posted a 21:13 lead after the opening quarter. They maintained the lead well throughout the rest of the game cruising to the victory. Nannapat Danchaivijit (171-C-88) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Ganzul Davaasuren (170-G-88) responded with 18 points for Mongolia.
