Rayyan Crowned Emir Cup Champions; Complete Season Sweep - Apr 12, 2009
Al Rayyan ran away with the Emir Cup in an emphatic 96-81 victory over Qatar Club. Al Rayyan have now won 5 straight trophies in the Qatari League, a streak that dates back to last year's Heir Apparent Cup victory. They also won the Emir Cup that year, and added the League and Heir Apparent Cup this year, and finished it off with Friday night's Emir Cup Final victory.

Erfan Ali Saeed (200-F-83) was the star of the game, having his way with who every Qatar Club threw at him. He finished the game with 22 points and 7 rebounds and was crowned game MVP. Saleem Abdullah Malek (195-F-85) added 26, Tanguy Ngombo (196-F-89) 17 and Boney Watson (183-G, college: Sam Houston St.) 11 to go along with 7 assists for the victors. Qatar was lead by Omar Abdgader Salem (205-C-83) who scored 23 pts and 9 rebs, while Maurice Hargrow (195-G-83, college: Minnesota) had 22 and 4 assists, in a losing effort.

Al Rayyan was well coached all season and their play on the court reflected that. And with the acquisition of Watson, it was obvious that Al Rayyan had it set in their minds that they were going to sweep the League and both Cups, from the beginning of the season. Congratulations to Al Rayyan Club, Coach Brian Lester , and his players on a fantastic season.
