CHESTER GILES

Al Naser Dubai (D1) landed 33-year old Bahraini ex-international center Chester Giles (211-109kg-85, college: Oregon State). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Giles started the season at Muharraq in Bahrain Premier League. In 11 games he averaged impressive 16.0ppg, 15.8rpg, 1.4spg and 3.2bpg this season. He was also selected League Player of the Week. The last season Giles played at Pelita Jaya (IBL) in Indonesian league where in 23 games he had 13.3ppg, 15.8rpg (#2 in the league), 1.3apg, 1.2spg and 3.0bpg. Giles helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. It was a very successful season in his career as he was awarded Asia-Basket.com All-Indonesian IBL Defensive Player of the Year, Center of the Year and selected to 1st Team.
Among other achievements Giles won Bahrain League championship title in 2012 and 2016. He received also Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Player of the Year award back in 2010.
Giles represented Bahrain at the Asian Championships in Manila (Philippines) six years ago. His stats at that event were 2 games: 12.5ppg, 13.0rpg, 3.0bpg.
Giles is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in China (Shaanxi Xinda), Iraq (Duhok), Iran, Saudi Arabia, NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends and Westchester Knicks), Lebanon (Al Riyadi and Amchit) and Philippines (Smart Gilas).
Giles attended Oregon State until 2008 and it is his eleventh (!!!) season in pro basketball.
His game is described as: Excellent physical attributes, starting with a 7'4" wingspan and an excellent frame which he has clearly worked on over the course of his college career. On defense, Giles has a rare combination of timing, athleticism, and length that makes him a potentially great shot-blocker.
