Regular Season Round 7: Al Bashaer - Shabab Al Ahli 56-96

Bottom-ranked OmaniAl Bashaer (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-56 loss to eighth ranked UAE Shabab Al Ahli (3-1) in . But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Shabab Al Ahli led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Al Bashaer 's 24 and made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Al Bashaer 42-31 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shabab Al Ahli players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Deshawndre Washington (201, college: NM State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import swingman Sir'Dominic Pointer (198-1992, college: St.John's) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Shabab Al Ahli players scored in double figures. Shabab Al Ahli's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Serbian Slaven Cupkovic (205-1988) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Osama Al-Riyami (165-1997) added 14 points in the effort for Al Bashaer. Defending UAE champion moved-up to second place. Defending Omani champion Al Bashaer still closes the standings with four games lost.
