Date: January 17, 2022
Very predictable result when fifth ranked Al Wehda (9-7) rolled over bottom-ranked Abha (0-16) in Mecca 88-60 on Monday. Al Wehda dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Abha's 28. They outrebounded Abha 49-37 including a 41-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Wehda looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The winners were led by international center Thamer Mohammed (-97) who scored that evening 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Egyptian guard Ramy Gunday (185-81) supported him with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Al Wehda players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds by American center Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) did not help to save the game for Abha. Hesham Al Shareef added 19 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Al Wehda maintains fifth position with 9-7 record. Newly promoted Abha still closes the standings. Al Wehda will meet Al Salam (#8) in the next round. Abha will play against Al Fateh (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
