Regular Season Round 13: Al Khor - Al Wakrah 77-67

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Al Wakrah (4-11) was defeated on the road by bottom-ranked Al Khor (1-14) 77-67 on Saturday. Al Khor looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists. Egyptian center Omar Salem (205-1983) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and the former international Aladji Bobo Magassa (200-2000) chipped in 8 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists. At the losing side the former international center Ndour Mame Souleye (206-1987) responded with a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 16 assists and American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals. Al Wakrah's coach Ihab Galal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Al Khor maintains ninth place with 1-14 record. Loser Al Wakrah keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Al Khor will meet higher ranked Al Arabi (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Wakrah will play against Al Gharafa in Doha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
